"Recovery begins at home...The Journey Home"
The Journey Home is divided into five phases. All phases represent the basic guidelines and expectations we have set for our residents. Specific issues and needs not covered are addressed on an individual basis.
Phase One:
Orientation/Stabilization
Length: Two Weeks
Purpose: Residents begin adjusting to their new environment, complete all intake requirements, and identify specific goals and objectives.
Phase Two:
Education/Addiction/Disease Concept
Length: Two Weeks
Purpose: Residents start working on developing an objective self-image, and our counselors begin the education of the "disease concept" of addiction. Each resident presents their autobiography to the group and begin to ask for their needs to be met.
Phase Three:
Socialization/Acceptance
Length: Three to Five Months
Purpose: Residents begin to actively participate in all therapy and educational groups while working on their program of recovery. In this phase they realize that they are responsible for their own recovery. The initiation of family issues, resolutions to specific problems, taking pride in personal appearance, and healthy self-esteem development is established.
Phase Four:
Growth/Experience
Length: Two to Six Weeks
Purpose: Residents acknowledge their personal growth in all aspects of their recovery including exhibiting appropriate behaviors in a consistent manner, vocational and educational plans, community service, accepting confrontation openly, and having fun in sobriety.
Phase Five:
Employment/Closure
Length: Open Ended
Purpose: Resolutions to family issues and continued employment or school plans are made now. Residents complete their ongoing relapse prevention plan and make appropriate living arrangements. Family and community involvement is also encouraged for graduation.
